Introduction

Cinnamon oil is a versatile essential oil that boasts a myriad of health benefits, from promoting relaxation to supporting immune function. Making your own cinnamon oil at home not only ensures its purity but also allows you to tailor it to your preferences.

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

Before you start, make sure you have the following ingredients:

Cinnamon sticks
Carrier oil (such as jojoba, almond, or olive oil)
A clean, airtight glass jar
A dark glass bottle for storage
Cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer

Step 2: Choose Your Cinnamon Sticks

Select high-quality cinnamon sticks for the best results. Ceylon cinnamon is preferred for its sweet and mild flavor, but Cassia cinnamon works well too. Approximately 10-12 sticks will be enough for a small batch of cinnamon oil.

Step 3: Break and Crush Cinnamon Sticks

To enhance the infusion process, break the cinnamon sticks into smaller pieces. Use a mortar and pestle or the back of a knife to crush the sticks slightly, releasing more of the cinnamon’s aromatic oils.

Step 4: Combine Cinnamon Sticks and Carrier Oil

Place the crushed cinnamon sticks in a clean, dry glass jar. Pour the carrier oil over the cinnamon, ensuring that it completely covers the sticks. Seal the jar tightly.

Step 5: Infuse the Mixture

Store the sealed jar in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks. Shake the jar gently every few days to agitate the mixture, helping to extract the essential oils from the cinnamon.

Step 6: Strain the Oil

After two weeks, strain the mixture using cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or another jar. Squeeze out as much oil as possible from the cinnamon remnants.

Step 7: Transfer to a Dark Glass Bottle

Pour the strained cinnamon oil into a dark glass bottle for storage. Dark glass helps protect the oil from light exposure, preserving its potency.

Step 8: Enjoy and Explore

Your homemade cinnamon oil is now ready to use! Enjoy its warm, spicy aroma by adding a few drops to a diffuser, or dilute it with a carrier oil for topical application. Cinnamon oil is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a great addition to your wellness routine.
